Our Story
Plattsville Bakehouse began as a small-scale community scheme to provide bread for local residents during the Covid19 crisis. We wanted to get real bread out to the community to keep spirits high in tough times.

I’m Andy, owner and head baker at Plattsville Bakehouse. I have been baking professionally since 2018, working in small artisan bakeries and mass production set ups alike. Before I made the leap into baking for a living, I had been baking at home for around 7 years as an amateur. I also work in the outdoors industry on a freelance basis, having worked as a British mountain leader, rock climbing instructor, a ski instructor (in the winters!) and more recently an international expedition leader.
Plattsville’s story all started in our home kitchen here on Plattsville Road in March 2020. After losing all my work for the year as a freelance outdoor instructor due to the Covid19 outbreak, I wanted to do something for the local community. So I reached out to our local residents offering a home-baked, organic bread delivery service…and the orders came in thick and fast! Six months later and I was opening a production unit and selling to restaurants, cafes and retail spaces across the city. Of course I haven’t forgotten about the people who helped build our foundations, and still sell bread every week to those very same smiley, bread-loving residents who have been with us since day one! We love you guys!!
